Dr. Barry Y. Emara, MD, FRCS(C);

Dr.
Barry Emara received his Doctor of Medicine from
the University of
Western Ontario in 1995. He then completed his
Ophthalmology residency at
the University of Western Ontario, to become a
fellow of the Royal College
of Physicians and Surgeons in June 2000.
Dr. Emara is also Board Certifiedas a Diplomat of the American Board of
Ophthalmology.
Throughout his training, Dr. Emara has done
extensive research involving the Lasik
procedure. He has also presented at various
conferences and published many articles based on
his research. He is a member of such
societies as the Association for Research in
Vision and Ophthalmology,
Canadian Ophthalmological Society, Canadian and
Ontario Medical
Associations. Dr. Emara received his training in
Lasik surgery in 1999 from
Dr. Fouad Tayfour, the North American pioneer of
the procedure. Since then
he has performed thousands of refractive
procedures including PRK, Standard
Lasik, Custom Lasik, Lensectomy and Astigmatic
Keratotomy. Dr. Emara has
also recently completed training for Implantable
Contact Lens technology
and now offers this procedure to suitable
candidates.
In addition to his skill as a Lasik surgeon, Dr.
Emara is also an
accomplished cataract surgeon. He has a
well-established practice which
focuses mainly on cataract surgery and glaucoma.
He is presently Chief of
the Department of Ophthalmology at Hôtel-Dieu
Grace Hospital in Windsor,
Ontario.
Dr. Emara has been an Ophthalmic surgeon for
Lasik Centers of America since
2000.
